The Chairman of Garki Local Government Area in Jigawa State, Hon. Adamu Hudu Kore, known as Jarman Garki, launched a scholarship programme on Thursday, July 9, 2026, covering 990 financially disadvantaged students from the council area enrolled in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
Disbursement Begins with Three Institutions
Payments commenced on Thursday with students from Federal University Dutse, Jigawa State Polytechnic Dutse, and Aminatu College of Sciences, Dutse. Kore confirmed that disbursements would proceed on an institution-by-institution basis until all 990 beneficiaries receive their allocations.
Programme Aims to Ease Financial Burden
Kore described the initiative as a direct expression of his administration's dedication to education and youth empowerment, framing it within the 12-point agenda of Jigawa State Governor Malam Umar Namadi. The scheme is designed primarily to reduce financial strain on households with children in higher education, ensuring no eligible student abandons academic pursuits due to limited resources.
The scholarship forms part of broader education-focused commitments under the Garki LGA administration, aligned with the state government's developmental priorities.
