Air Peace and Turkish Airlines Forge Strategic Bilateral Interline Agreement
In a significant development for African aviation, Air Peace and Turkish Airlines have officially activated a bilateral interline agreement designed to strengthen connectivity between Nigeria, West and Central Africa, and Turkish Airlines' extensive global network. This partnership marks a pivotal step in enhancing travel options and commercial opportunities across multiple continents.
Seamless Connectivity for Passengers
According to a statement released by Air Peace Communications Manager, Efe Osifo-Whiskey, the agreement enables Turkish Airlines passengers arriving in Lagos to connect effortlessly onto Air Peace's comprehensive domestic and regional network, which spans Nigeria and West Africa. Conversely, Air Peace passengers will gain access to Turkish Airlines' vast global route network via Istanbul, one of the world's premier aviation hubs.
This interline partnership facilitates frictionless, single-ticket travel, coordinated schedules, and simplified baggage handling on selected routes and eligible itineraries. The collaboration is expected to deliver a smoother and more convenient travel experience for passengers journeying across multiple destinations, including Europe, Asia, the Middle East, the Americas, and beyond.
Boosting Travel and Tourism Opportunities
The partnership significantly enhances travel options between Nigeria and Türkiye, while also unlocking new commercial and tourism prospects by linking West and Central Africa more efficiently to global markets. This move is anticipated to stimulate economic growth and foster greater cultural exchange between the regions.
Dr. Özlem Özyön, Senior Vice President of International Relations and Alliances at Turkish Airlines, emphasized that the interline agreement reinforces the airline's commitment to expanding connectivity across Africa. "By combining Turkish Airlines' global reach with Air Peace's strong regional presence, we are generating more travel options, improved convenience, and greater accessibility for our passengers," he stated.
A Milestone in Global Aviation Strategy
Nowel Ngala, Chief Commercial Officer of Air Peace, described the partnership with Turkish Airlines as another important milestone in Air Peace's strategy to position Africa, and particularly Nigeria, at the center of global connectivity. This agreement aligns with broader efforts to enhance Nigeria's role in international aviation and promote regional integration.
The activation of this bilateral interline agreement is expected to benefit both airlines by increasing passenger traffic, optimizing operational efficiencies, and strengthening their competitive positions in the global aviation industry. It represents a forward-looking approach to addressing the growing demand for interconnected travel solutions in an increasingly globalized world.
