GIG Mobility CEO Urges Tech Adoption for Transport Efficiency

GIG Mobility Nigeria has emphasized the necessity of broader technology adoption in the mobility sector, asserting that digital innovation remains vital for enhancing travel convenience, expanding service access, and shaping the future of transportation in Nigeria. The Chief Executive Officer of the company, Dr Enahoro Okhae, made these remarks during the 2026 GIG Mobility Product Conference held in Lagos. At the event, the company unveiled an integrated platform that combines transport booking, flight reservations, vehicle hire, and tourism services into a single application.

Technology Transforming Mobility Services

Okhae explained that technology has revolutionized the delivery of mobility services, enabling customers to access multiple travel solutions directly from their mobile devices without needing to visit physical offices or navigate fragmented booking systems. According to him, users can now book bus trips, hire vehicles, purchase flight tickets, and arrange travel experiences seamlessly through one digital platform. He noted that a growing number of Nigerians have embraced digital solutions, and continued adoption will accelerate efficiency and improve customer experience across the transport industry.

“We are continuing to educate the industry and the public on what technology can do for them. That is why we are hosting programmes like this,” Okhae stated. He highlighted that the company’s technology ecosystem was designed to simplify travel processes and remove traditional barriers associated with booking and mobility services.

Key Innovations and Future Plans

Okhae identified “HireX,” the company’s vehicle-hire marketplace, as one of its flagship innovations, providing users with on-demand access to premium vehicles. He added that “PASS by GIGM” offers airline bookings, visa assistance, curated tour packages, and related travel services through a single interface. The CEO also disclosed plans to introduce electric vehicles into passenger operations, supported by charging infrastructure being developed through ongoing partnerships. He emphasized that technology will remain central to the company’s long-term growth strategy and leadership ambitions within the mobility industry.

“We are no longer just a company that moves people from Lagos to Benin. We are now a global mobility organisation. What we have built is an ecosystem where everything connected to travel sits on one platform — bus transport, airline tickets, vehicle hire, tours, and soon hotels and insurance,” he said. “It became increasingly difficult to keep telling people we were just a bus company. The demand was clear: people wanted more, and we had to evolve,” he added.

Government Support for Integrated Mobility

Also speaking at the event, the Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Toke Benson-Awoyinka, represented by Dr Quadri Adebowale, stated that integrated mobility systems are essential for tourism development and economic growth. She noted that efficient transportation connects people to business opportunities, culture, entertainment, and enterprise, while poor mobility systems can slow city growth. The conference underscored the importance of technology in driving the future of mobility in Nigeria.
