XEJet Limited, a premium Nigerian airline, has officially launched its inaugural flight service connecting Abuja directly with Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State. The first flight departed Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at 2:00pm on Monday, 5th October 2026, and landed safely at Gusau International Airport, marking a historic milestone for the region.

New Route Details and Aircraft

The new service will operate twice weekly using an Embraer ERJ-145MP aircraft, according to the airline. This route establishes a direct air link between Nigeria's federal capital and Zamfara State, expanding XEJet's domestic network and strengthening connectivity across the country.

Before departure, the General Manager of XEJet Express, Hamzat Bukar, welcomed Zamfara State officials, dignitaries, and guests aboard the inaugural flight. He highlighted that the route supports tourism, trade, and cultural exchange between Zamfara State and the rest of Nigeria, while reinforcing the airline's ties with key local markets.

Official Statements and Reception

Bukar stated, "This service will make travel more accessible and convenient for business travelers, government officials, and families alike. We are committed to supporting the growth of the region and delivering the safe, reliable service our passengers expect. This launch forms part of XEJet's continued expansion across Africa, and we look forward to announcing even more milestones in the near future."

At Gusau International Airport, the airport's Managing Director, Kabir Yahaya Gusau, expressed delight over the successful launch and safe arrival. He said, "Today marks the first time Gusau International Airport has welcomed passengers, and I am delighted to say everything went smoothly. I would like to sincerely thank the management of the airline for partnering with us and giving the people of Zamfara a smoother travel opportunity."

Impact on Zamfara and Regional Connectivity

The new direct service is expected to significantly improve access to Gusau, which serves as the economic heart of Zamfara State. By providing a reliable air link, the route is poised to benefit business travelers, government officials, and families, while also promoting regional development and cultural exchange.

This launch is part of XEJet's broader strategy to expand its footprint across Africa, with further milestones anticipated in the near future. The airline's commitment to safe and reliable service, as emphasized by its management, underscores its role in enhancing domestic air travel in Nigeria.
