In a significant move set to reshape corporate financial management in Nigeria, Access Bank has joined forces with global payments giant Visa to unveil a new Corporate Credit Card solution. Announced on January 12, 2026, this initiative is specifically designed for medium to large enterprises across the country, aiming to modernize how they handle both working capital and operational expenses.
A Dual-Purpose Financial Tool for Modern Enterprises
The core of this partnership is the Access Bank Visa Corporate Credit Card, which serves a dual function. Primarily, it acts as a robust working capital instrument, offering businesses an interest-free credit period of up to 45 days. This feature is a game-changer for Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) and Corporate Treasurers, enabling them to optimize cash flow strategically. Companies can use the card to settle payments to suppliers early, thereby maintaining favourable payment terms and freeing up essential liquidity to fuel growth and expansion.
Beyond capital management, the solution tackles the persistent challenge of manual, cash-heavy operational spending. The card facilitates the complete digitization of routine operational expenses (OPEX). Businesses can now efficiently manage and track costs related to employee travel, entertainment, and organizational procurement—such as fuel, diesel, and office equipment—by issuing cards to specific staff and departments.
Enhanced Governance with Real-Time Spend Visibility
A pivotal component of this offering is the integrated Access Bank Visa Spend Clarity web portal and mobile application. This platform provides finance teams with granular, real-time data and actionable insights into all corporate spending. Every transaction made with the card is recorded, allowing management to monitor expenses down to the level of individual employees, specific departments, or branches.
This digital oversight represents a major leap forward in corporate governance. It significantly reduces risks associated with fraudulent claims, inflated invoices, and the misclassification of personal expenses as business costs. Florence Owuor, Head of Cards Business at Access Bank, emphasized the value, stating the solution is designed to deliver "cash-flow efficiency and operational time optimization" aligned with the bank's passion for customer innovation.
Commitment to a Digital Economy and Business Empowerment
Speaking on the collaboration, Andrew Uaboi, Vice President & Cluster Head for West Africa at Visa, highlighted the shared vision of digitizing payments. He noted that the Access Bank Visa Corporate Credit Card brings "seamless, accountable, and data-driven expense management" to organizations, empowering them to make smarter financial decisions in an increasingly digital economy.
To ensure Nigerian businesses can maximize the benefits of this new tool, Access Bank and Visa have planned a series of educational engagements. They will host monthly webinars in the coming months, tailored for Corporate Treasurers and CFOs. These sessions will delve deeper into the card's value proposition and explore strategies for optimizing both organizational expense management and working capital.
The launch event was attended by key executives from both organizations, including Damola Giwa, Senior Business Development Leader & Country Manager for Visa West Africa; Oluwatoyin Badeji, Director of Business Development for Visa West Africa; Chiedu Adudu, Director of Visa Commercial Solutions; and from Access Bank, Florence Owuor, Head of Card Products; Oladimeji Adegbayi, Team Lead for Card Products; and Emeka Nkwonta, Sector Head for Oil & Gas Upstream & Power.
