SeedFi Expands Access and Builds Impact: Growth Journey

SeedFi, a leading Nigerian fintech focused on credit and savings, has reported significant milestones in its journey to expand access to financial services. In a recent company update, the firm revealed that it has now served over 500,000 customers and disbursed more than N10 billion in loans since its inception, marking a 150% growth in loan volume over the past year. The company attributes this success to its data-driven lending model and partnerships with local organizations.

Driving Financial Inclusion Through Technology

SeedFi's platform leverages alternative data such as mobile money transactions, utility payments, and behavioral data to score borrowers who lack formal credit histories. This approach has enabled the fintech to reach underserved populations in both urban and rural areas. The company has expanded its operations to 12 states in Nigeria, with plans to enter three more by the end of 2026.

According to Olu Adebayo, CEO of SeedFi, “Our mission is to democratize access to credit for every Nigerian. By using technology to assess creditworthiness, we are able to serve people who would otherwise be excluded from the formal financial system.” He noted that over 60% of SeedFi’s customers are first-time borrowers from traditional banks.

Impact on Small Businesses and Households

The loans disbursed through SeedFi have primarily been used for small business expansion (40%), education (25%), and healthcare (15%). A recent impact survey showed that 70% of business owners reported increased revenue after using SeedFi loans, while 80% said the loan application process was faster than traditional banks.

SeedFi has also introduced a savings product that offers competitive interest rates, with over 100,000 users currently enrolled. The company’s total savings deposits have grown to N2.5 billion, reflecting strong customer trust and engagement.

Strategic Partnerships and Future Plans

To sustain growth, SeedFi has secured partnerships with telecom operators and fintech platforms for customer acquisition and data sharing. In 2025, the company raised a $15 million Series B round led by a global impact investor. The funds are being used to enhance its technology infrastructure and expand into new geographies.

Looking ahead, SeedFi plans to launch a digital bank account with integrated lending and savings, as well as a credit scoring service for other financial institutions. The company is also exploring partnerships with microfinance banks to reach more rural customers.

Challenges and Regulatory Environment

Despite its growth, SeedFi faces challenges including high default rates (currently 5%) and regulatory compliance costs. However, the company has implemented AI-based fraud detection and dynamic repayment schedules to mitigate risks. The Central Bank of Nigeria’s recent guidelines on digital lending have also prompted SeedFi to enhance transparency in its pricing and data usage.

According to industry analysts, SeedFi’s model represents a scalable solution for addressing Nigeria’s credit gap, which is estimated at over N50 trillion. The company’s focus on impact measurement and customer education sets it apart in the competitive fintech landscape.
