THT HMO Brings Hope to Bethesda School for the Blind on Disability Day
THT HMO Supports Bethesda School for the Blind

In a powerful act of compassion marking the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Total Health Trust Limited (THT HMO), a Tangerine Company, delivered joy and essential support to the students and staff of Bethesda Home and School for the Blind in Mushin. The event, held on 5 December 2025, transformed from a standard corporate outreach into an emotional celebration, reinforcing the value and potential of every child.

A Day of Emotional Connection and Tangible Support

The visit saw the THT HMO team distributing gifts to students, teachers, and non-teaching staff. Managing Director Tonye Ukpong emphasized that the company's mission extends beyond healthcare policies. She stated that true health involves touching human lives and upholding shared duty. Ukpong reaffirmed THT's commitment to inclusion and promised to explore deeper collaboration to meet the school's identified needs.

The school's Director, Mrs. Chioma Ohakwe, was visibly moved, thanking THT HMO for the timely intervention which she said lifted spirits as much as it provided material support. She called on other organizations and individuals to emulate this example of corporate responsibility.

Showcasing Resilience and Appealing for Future Partnerships

During the visit, the Head of School, Mr. Quadri, highlighted the academic excellence of the students, noting several who performed outstandingly in recent JAMB examinations and are now thriving in universities across Nigeria. He appealed for sponsorships for students awaiting admission and crucially, for job placement opportunities for graduates, stressing that education without economic independence is incomplete.

For decades, Bethesda Home has served as a sanctuary, offering education, vocational training, and rehabilitation. However, with limited funding and growing demand, the institution relies heavily on the generosity of partners.

The Call for Sustained Action

The visit concluded with musical performances and heartfelt conversations, leaving a lasting impression on all. THT HMO's outreach underscores that community wellness is a collective responsibility. The children of Bethesda need consistent support, not just during festive seasons. The school urgently seeks partnerships in the following areas:

  • Food and educational material donations
  • Scholarships and sponsorships
  • Job placements for graduates
  • Vocational training support
  • Financial contributions
