Adelabu, Yahaya, Omoboriowo to Be Honored at 2026 ENERGY TIMES Awards
Federal Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu; Gombe State Governor, Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya; and Akinwole Omoboriowo II are among the prominent figures slated for recognition at the upcoming 2026 ENERGY TIMES Awards. The prestigious event is scheduled to take place on April 17 at the Radisson Blu in GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, celebrating excellence in Nigeria's energy industry.
Distinguished Awardees and Corporate Honorees
In addition to the high-profile individuals, the awards will honor key industry players and corporate organizations for their significant contributions to the growth and development of Nigeria's energy sector. Corporate awardees include PANA Holdings, which will receive the Local Content Company of the Year award; MOMAS Group, honored with the Innovative/Technology Leadership award; and Egbin Power Limited, recognized as the Electricity Company of the Year.
Dr. Joy Ogaji will be conferred with the Amazon of the Nigerian Power Sector Award for her impactful contributions to the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI). This accolade highlights her dedication and efforts in advancing the sector.
Strengthening Credibility and Recognition
According to a statement signed by the Editorial Board Chairman, Yakubu Lawal, a panel of industry experts has been constituted as advisers to enhance the credibility and content of the awards. Lawal explained that the 2026 edition of the ENERGY TIMES Award is designed to recognize individuals and organizations driving transformation in the energy sector and improving lives across Nigeria.
Energy Times, the organizer of the award, began as a weekly newspaper and has since evolved into a bi-weekly publication based in Lagos. Established in March 2017, the publication focuses on in-depth energy reportage and analysis in Nigeria, providing valuable insights into the industry.
Special Roles and Honors
Minister Adelabu is expected to lead stakeholders in the NESI to the event as the Special Guest of Honour, where he will also be decorated with an award for his leadership and contributions. Governor Yahaya will be honored as the Energy Governor of the Year for his initiatives in developing rural and urban energy infrastructure in Gombe State, showcasing his commitment to enhancing energy access and reliability.
