EKEDC appoints Peters Chairman, Joseph-Condotti Interim CEO

Eko Electricity Distribution Company Plc (EKEDC) has undergone a significant change in its board and executive leadership. This follows the takeover of its board by Transgrid Enerco, confirmed on Wednesday, 15 January 2026.

New Board Takes Charge

The previous board, led by Dr Dere Otubu and representing former majority shareholder West Power and Gas Limited, has exited. A newly constituted board is now in place, with Engr. Dr Olubunmi Peters appointed as the Chairman.

The other members of the new board include Professor George Nwangwu, Faruk Aliyu, Kolapo Joseph, and Rasheed Olaoluwa. Ayo Gbeleyi retains his position as the director representing the Bureau of Public Enterprises.

Interim CEO Appointment for Continuity

As part of this leadership transition, Rekhiat Momoh has stepped down from her role as Chief Executive Officer. The new board has moved swiftly to appoint Wola Joseph-Condotti as the Interim Chief Executive Officer, with the appointment taking immediate effect.

In a statement, the company explained that the appointment aims to ensure operational and leadership continuity during this period of change. The board expressed confidence in Joseph-Condotti's deep familiarity with the organisation and her extensive understanding of the electricity distribution sector.

Profiles of the New Leaders

In his comments, the new Chairman, Engr. Dr Olubunmi Peters, thanked the outgoing CEO for her service. He noted that Momoh's tenure coincided with concerted efforts to strengthen operations and improve service delivery across all of EKEDC's franchise areas. "We appreciate Rekhiat Momoh's contributions to the company and wish her success in her future endeavours," Peters stated.

The newly appointed interim CEO, Wola Joseph-Condotti, brings a wealth of relevant experience. She previously served as the Group Managing Director and CEO of West Power and Gas Limited, EKEDC's former parent company. Her prior roles within EKEDC itself include:

  • Pioneer Chief Legal Officer and Company Secretary
  • Head of Regulatory Compliance
  • Chief Human Resources and Administration Officer

Joseph-Condotti holds a law degree from the University of Ibadan, a Master of Laws from Harvard Law School, and an MBA from INSEAD Business School.

Focus on Stability and Service Delivery

Speaking after her appointment, Joseph-Condotti said her focus is on maintaining stability and continuing the drive to improve electricity distribution for customers. "I am honoured to serve as interim CEO at this time. EKEDC has a strong team, and my priority is to work with them to sustain progress in delivering reliable electricity to our customers," she affirmed.

Chairman Peters added that the board's decisions reflect its intention to place stakeholder interests at the heart of the transition. He emphasised that the company remains firmly committed to its strategic objectives.

EKEDC is one of Nigeria's key electricity distribution companies, operating under the country's power sector reforms. It serves a vast customer base across Lagos State and its adjoining areas.
