Windstorm Collapses Power Tower, Disrupts Yola Electricity

A windstorm in the early hours of today caused the collapse of a 33kV power transmission tower along the Jambutu feeder at Jimeta Bridge, leading to power disruptions in parts of Adamawa state.

According to a statement issued by the management of Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC), the incident occurred at approximately 12:52 a.m. when strong winds brought down the Jambutu 33kV feeder tower. The company said its technical team swiftly responded by isolating the affected section of the network at the bridge to prevent further damage.

Electricity supply was subsequently restored to the Jambutu 33kV feeder at about 7:38 a.m. However, the tower collapse has continued to affect customers served by the 11kV Bajabure Feeder, 11kV FUTY Feeder, and 33kV Girei Feeder. YEDC stated that engineers are currently at the site carrying out repair works to restore power to all affected areas as quickly and safely as possible.
