A global thought leader and advocate for womanhood, Bishop Funke Felix-Adejumo, has urged women to stop depending on men's money to live a meaningful life. Speaking at a program organized by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Everlasting Covenant Zone, FCT 11, tagged 'Women of Greater Height,' she emphasized that married women should not limit themselves to childbearing but should make a greater impact in society.
Key Messages from Bishop Adejumo
Bishop Adejumo highlighted the need for women to know God, develop a relationship with Him, identify their talents, sharpen their skills, value themselves, generate passive income, invest wisely, and maintain healthy relationships. She distinguished between spirituality and religion, urging women to deliberately honor God and men.
Referencing John 3:27, she stated that women aspiring for greatness must be humble, accept correction, and be grateful. 'Like yourself and invest in yourself. If your spending is solely based on your husband, you are a waste. Do not let your life depend on Sexually Transmitted Money (STM),' she warned.
Self-Worth and Dignity
She encouraged women not to allow anyone to pull them down, citing Job 12:13 to affirm that no woman is inferior. 'Love yourself, believe in yourself, and celebrate yourself always,' she said. Calling for a life dedicated to Jesus, she added, 'Life is too short to waste. Love the Lord, serve Him, and be passionate about God. Do not sleep around for money. Keep your dignity and believe in yourself.'
Financial Advice
Bishop Adejumo advised women to invest in shares rather than expensive handbags and clothes they rarely use. 'Go and sell them to buy shares,' she said. She urged the gathering to strengthen their passive income, as it would sustain them in their later years. Regarding relationships, she advised avoiding parasitic and jealous colleagues.
Other Speakers
Mrs. Mary Folorunsho, wife of the RCCG Provincial Pastor of FCT 11, called on women to rise up, look to God, and utilize the salvation deposited in them. She urged them not to bury their talents, shun fears, and ask God for identification of their talents. 'There will be opposition to your greatness, but do not be afraid; remain focused. Activate your talent and do not be like the servant who hid his talent,' she said.
Pastor Dele Jegede, Zonal Pastor of RCCG Everlasting Covenant Zone, explained that the event aimed to help women realize themselves, do well, and make a positive impact. He noted that the message aligns with the teachings of Mummy Folu Adeboye, wife of the RCCG General Overseer, who has been preaching for women to arise and take their place in society.
The convener, Mrs. Lydia Jegede, stated that the event was organized for Nigerian women to rise and take authority in all spheres of life. 'Nigerian women are not mediocre. This event encourages women to take their place in government, business, politics, technology, science, leadership, church, and all areas of life,' she said.
