Nigerdock has officially begun activities at the Snake Island Port, developed in collaboration with the Federal Government to boost cargo handling capacity and improve trade efficiency, coinciding with its four decades of operations in Nigeria's maritime, logistics, and industrial sectors.
Milestone Achievement
The company stated that this dual milestone underscores its enduring role in supporting critical port infrastructure, logistics, terminal operations, ship repair, and industrial development, as well as its expansion into integrated port and free zone services, thereby facilitating global trade with the African market.
Chief Executive Officer of Nigerdock, Maher Jarmakani, noted that the company's growth has been driven by sustained reinvestment and operational resilience. He described the anniversary as a testament to the firm's ability to adapt and scale operations over time. The milestone highlights Nigerdock's evolution from a ship repair and fabrication yard into a regional hub for port operations, logistics support, and free zone services.
Leadership Perspective
“Our journey has been one of resilience, constant reinvestment, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. We have consistently adapted, scaled our operations, and delivered landmark projects to our customers,” Jarmakani said.
Since its establishment in 1986, Nigerdock has delivered projects across multiple sectors, including terminal operations, marine services, and industrial real estate. The company's growth accelerated after its acquisition by Jagal Group in 2003, which initiated an expansion program aimed at strengthening operational capacity.
Workforce Development
Jarmakani also highlighted the company's investment in workforce development, stating that thousands of Nigerians have been trained in specialized technical skills to meet global industry standards. He emphasized that this demonstrates how local talent, supported by world-class systems, can deliver global standards.
“As we celebrate forty years of operational excellence, we acknowledge the decades of collaboration with our clients, employees, and partners, and remain fully focused on driving Nigeria’s economic growth,” he added.
