A tragic road accident on the Lokoja–Okene highway in Kogi State has claimed the lives of 16 people. The crash occurred on Friday, May 8, around 9:20 am near Aku village along the Osara axis of the highway, according to The Punch.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) attributed the cause of the accident to driver fatigue and excessive speed. The vehicle, reportedly traveling at top speed, veered off the road and plunged under a bridge. The Guardian also reported the unfortunate incident, confirming the death toll.
