Cruxstone Group unveils Nautica Ecosystem, Lagos waterfront tourism plan
Cruxstone unveils Nautica waterfront tourism plan in Lagos

Cruxstone Group has unveiled plans for a large-scale integrated waterfront destination on the Lekki Peninsula, expanding its vision beyond a standalone beach resort into a broader tourism, hospitality and real estate ecosystem. The project, known as the Nautica Ecosystem, is anchored by the already operational Nautica Beach Resort and will be complemented by a proposed waterfront residential development.

Renewed investor confidence in Lagos coastal corridor

The unveiling comes amid renewed investor confidence in Lagos' coastal corridor after the Federal Government resolved initial challenges surrounding the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project. Developers are increasingly turning their attention to waterfront tourism, hospitality and mixed-use real estate projects.

The expansion reflects growing investor interest in waterfront tourism and real estate developments along Lagos' Atlantic coastline, where developers continue to explore opportunities in hospitality, recreation and mixed-use coastal projects, buoyed by improving infrastructure and the state's expanding tourism market.

Nautica Ecosystem: A master-planned destination

The unveiling, held over the weekend, marked the formal presentation of a master-planned destination that will incorporate hospitality facilities, marine infrastructure, waterfront residences, event spaces and recreational attractions. The resort offers accommodation, beachfront leisure facilities, dining services and a range of recreational experiences.

Future phases of the development are expected to include expanded marine infrastructure, water-based recreational activities, a jetty, a private members' club, an events centre and premium waterfront residences. Although the resort commenced operations last year, the relaunch signals a broader ambition to leverage Nigeria's coastal assets for tourism, leisure and investment.

Integrated destination vision

According to the developers, the project has been designed as an integrated destination where hospitality, tourism, marine activities, entertainment, recreation and real estate coexist within a single ecosystem.

Speaking at the unveiling, Founder and Chairman of Cruxstone Group, Dr Adetoro Bank-Omotoye, described the initiative as more than a hospitality venture, saying it was conceived as a long-term destination capable of attracting investment, tourism and economic activity.

“We are not simply building a beach resort. We are building a destination institution designed to attract people, capital, experiences and opportunities from across Nigeria, Africa and the world,” he said.

According to him, the Nautica ecosystem is intended to bring together complementary assets, including hospitality, events, marine infrastructure and residential development, within a unified waterfront destination. Bank-Omotoye said the company's long-term vision is to establish one of Africa's leading waterfront destinations while creating opportunities for tourism growth, investment inflows and job creation.

He noted that the ultimate measure of the project's success would be its execution and impact. “The market will judge us not by our intentions, but by our execution; not by our plans, but by our delivery; not by our promises, but by our results,” he said.

Proof of execution

Also speaking, the Group Head of Marketing and Advertising at Cruxstone Group, Alex Okoh, said the project had progressed beyond the conceptual stage, with the first phase already operational. “Today's launch demonstrates that the vision is no longer conceptual. The first phase is operational. What people are seeing today is proof of execution,” he said.

Okoh noted that the initiative seeks to unlock the economic potential of Nigeria's coastal resources by stimulating tourism, investment and employment. “Nigeria has incredible natural assets, but we need more world-class destinations that convert those assets into economic value, tourism activity, jobs and investment opportunities,” he said.

He explained that the development differs from conventional beach resorts by integrating multiple attractions, services and investment opportunities within a single destination. According to him, security and family-oriented experiences remain central to the resort's operations. “We have a strong security network within the resort. It is a place for fun, leisure, families and unforgettable experiences,” he said.
