Lagos Begins Screening for Christian Pilgrims to Israel, Jordan
Lagos Screens Christian Pilgrims for Holy Land Journey

The Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board has officially launched the screening process for Christian pilgrims preparing to visit holy sites in Israel and Jordan. The exercise, which began on November 29, 2025, represents a crucial preparatory phase for the upcoming spiritual journey.

Comprehensive Screening Process

According to Dr. Okudero Gbolabo Omoniyi, Board Secretary of the LSCPWB, the screening involves both administrative and medical evaluations conducted in partnership with the National Christian Pilgrims Commission and other government agencies. The process verifies travel documentation and assesses the health readiness of all intending pilgrims.

Dr. Omoniyi explained that the dual assessment approach serves multiple purposes: validating travel documents, educating pilgrims about what to expect during their journey, and ensuring the medical team is properly equipped with necessary medications to address health concerns that may arise.

Official Guidance and Expectations

The Board Secretary emphasized the importance of pilgrims maintaining good physical and medical condition for the demanding journey. He specifically urged all participants to respect the laws and guidelines of Israel and Jordan while representing both Lagos State and Nigeria with integrity and dignity.

Reverend Bukola Adeleke, Special Adviser to the Governor on Christian Religious Matters, expressed appreciation for the pilgrims' trust in the state government's pilgrimage services. He highlighted the significance of spiritual support, encouraging pilgrims to offer prayers for Nigeria's leadership during these challenging times.

Commitment to Safety and Success

Bishop Stephen Adegbite, Executive Secretary of the NCPC, reaffirmed the commission's dedication to ensuring a secure and successful pilgrimage experience. Comprehensive measures have been implemented to prevent abscondment and guarantee the safety of Nigerian pilgrims throughout their stay in both Israel and Jordan.

Adegbite acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's continued support for pilgrimage initiatives across Nigeria. He joined other officials in encouraging the pilgrims to remember the nation in their prayers while visiting the Holy Land.
