NASFAT Families Celebrate Post-Ramadan Funfair in Lagos to Strengthen Community Bonds
Members of the Nasrul-Lahi-l-Fatih Society (NASFAT) recently came together in a vibrant atmosphere of celebration and relaxation, marking their yearly post-Ramadan Family Funfair. This event, held after weeks of intense spiritual devotion during Ramadan, provided a joyful opportunity for families to unwind and connect.
Event Highlights and Activities
The third edition of the NASFAT Family Funfair took place at the Lagos State Secretariat Central Mosque in Alausa, Ikeja. It featured a series of exciting activities designed for all age groups, including games and competitions that engaged both the young and the elderly. Children, in particular, enjoyed moments of delight with a bouncy castle and mascot appearances, which brought smiles and excitement to their faces.
Kamar Bolaji Olawuyi, an engineer and NASFAT Vice President 1, emphasized the event's purpose. Speaking on behalf of NASFAT President Abdulwahid Abdul-Rauf, Olawuyi noted that the funfair was organized to appreciate Almighty Allah for granting members the opportunity to witness another Eid season. He explained that this annual tradition, which began two years ago, aims to strengthen bonds among members after the holy month of Ramadan.
Olawuyi stated, "The beauty and significance of this is to come together as a family, to network, to rejoice together, to celebrate together as Prophet Muhammad (SAW) has enjoined us to always come as one ummah."
Balancing Spirituality and Social Engagement
Muinat Idowu Yusuf, the Central Chairperson of the 2026 Family Funfair, highlighted the event's role in providing a balance between spiritual obligations and social engagement within NASFAT. Traditionally held after Eid-el-Fitr, the funfair creates an avenue for members, including men, women, youth, and children, to unite as one family to celebrate and unwind after an intense period of worship.
Yusuf explained that while NASFAT activities are largely spiritual, such as the regular Sunday prayers, the funfair offers a different dimension by encouraging interaction, networking, and shared enjoyment among members. She said, "After this, I expect people to feel relaxed and re-energised for the tasks ahead, especially as they return to work." She also encouraged the leadership to consider hosting such events more frequently to enhance members' well-being and family bonding.
Gratitude and Tradition
In her remarks, Alhaja Ganiyat Babalola, NASFAT National Women Affairs Secretary, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to bring members together under a joyful atmosphere. She further highlighted that the post-Ramadan gathering has become a significant tradition in the Society, offering members broader opportunities to interact beyond regular prayer meetings.
This event underscores NASFAT's commitment to fostering community spirit and unity, blending religious observance with social festivities to create a holistic experience for its members.
