Umuada Igbo Massachusetts Calls for Unity, Investment at Christmas Event
Igbo Diaspora Group Preaches Peace, Seeks Investment in Nigeria

The leadership of Umuada Igbo Massachusetts Inc., a prominent Nigerian socio-cultural organization based in the United States, has issued a heartfelt appeal for peace and unity among all Nigerians during the 2025 Christmas season and in the future.

A Call for National Harmony

The appeal was delivered by the organization's trailblazing President, Chidinma Igbokwe, during their annual Christmas party celebration held in Braintree, Massachusetts, U.S., on 18 December 2025. Igbokwe began by expressing gratitude for God's goodness and mercy upon Nigerians worldwide.

She emphasized the strong bonds that connect Nigerians across religious, political, social, and ethnic divides. "We are all children of God and naturally peace-loving people," Igbokwe stated. She urged citizens to avoid divisive rhetoric and instead concentrate on the shared socio-cultural heritage established by Nigeria's founding fathers long before independence.

"As you all know, together we stand, but divided we fall," she reminded the audience. "Therefore, I call on all Nigerians home and abroad to join hands together to build a better nation for the good of our children and every one of us."

Appeal for an Enabling Investment Environment

Echoing the theme of national progress, the founder of Umuada Igbo Massachusetts Inc., Ngozi Njoku, addressed the practical steps needed for growth. She called on the Nigerian government, at both state and federal levels, to create a more favorable environment for American and international investors.

Njoku directly linked economic development to core national challenges. "Once the issues of insecurity and poor public infrastructure are genuinely addressed, more Nigerians in the Diaspora, foreign industrialists, and international developers will be attracted to invest in Nigeria," she asserted.

A Gathering of Minds and Culture

The event underscored the group's influence as one of the frontline Nigerian Diaspora organizations in the United States. This year's Christmas celebration attracted a distinguished gathering, including:

  • Eminent leaders of thought
  • Seasoned politicians
  • Captains of industry from across the country

The festivities were rich with unique Igbo cultural displays and featured the presentation of gifts in the Christmas spirit. The program also included the traditional cutting of the yearly Christmas cake and thanksgiving prayers, where attendees affirmed God as their perpetual succour and shield.

The messages from Braintree serve as a dual appeal from the diaspora: one for internal unity and another for creating the external conditions necessary to harness the skills and resources of Nigerians abroad for national development.
