JAMB 2026: Universities Accepting 150 Cut-Off Mark

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced 150 as the minimum admissible UTME score for the 2026/2027 academic session. This decision was made public on Monday, May 11, 2026, during the JAMB Annual Policy Meeting on Admissions into Tertiary Institutions held in Abuja, FCT.

Candidates who scored 150 and above in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) are now eligible for admission into various federal, state, and private universities across Nigeria. However, individual universities retain the right to set higher cut-off marks, with some requiring scores of 200 or more depending on the course of study.

Below is a list of Nigerian universities that have set 150 as their general minimum admissible UTME score for the 2026/2027 admission exercise:

AbdulRasaq Abubakar Toyin University

Located in Oke-Ogba, Ganmo, Ilorin, Kwara State, this private university was established in 2025 and is accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC). Approved courses include B.Sc. Computer Science, B.Sc. Cyber Security, B.Sc. Information Technology, B.Sc. Software Engineering, B.Sc. Biochemistry, B.Sc. Biotechnology, B.Sc. Accounting, B.A. History and Diplomatic Studies, B.Sc. Business Administration, B.Sc. Economics, B.Sc. Architecture, B.Sc. Estate Management, B.Sc. Quantity Surveying, and B.Sc. Urban and Regional Planning.

Adamawa State University

Adamawa State University, Mubi, was established in 2002. Its current vice chancellor is Prof. Augustine Clement. The university comprises five faculties: Education, Agriculture, Arts, Science, and Social Science and Management, in addition to a postgraduate school.

Adeleke University, Ede

Founded in 2011 in Ede, Osun State, Adeleke University is led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Solomon Ajayi Adebola. The institution recently secured full NUC accreditation for 22 undergraduate programmes, including Finance, Office and Information Management, Public Administration, Nursing Science, English Language and Literary Studies, Religious Studies, History and International Studies, Mass Communication, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, and Food Science and Nutrition.

African School of Economics (ASE)

Established in 2014 by Princeton University Professor Leonard Wantchekon, ASE is headquartered in Abomey-Calavi, Benin, with campuses in Côte d’Ivoire, Zanzibar, and Nigeria. Although its name was not found on the NUC website at the time of reporting, ASE claims it received its license to operate as a private university in Nigeria in 2024. The university operates faculties of Arts, Management and Social Sciences; Science and Computing; and Agriculture, Environment and Allied Health Sciences.

How to Apply to These Universities

Candidates who did not initially select any of these universities during UTME registration can still apply by requesting a change of institution through JAMB. This process allows eligible candidates to transfer their candidacy to any of the listed institutions.

Deadlines for 2025/2026 Admissions

During the 2026 JAMB Annual Policy Meeting, stakeholders approved deadlines for the completion of the 2025/2026 admission exercise. All public universities must finalize admissions by October 31, 2026, while private universities have until November 30, 2026.
