2026/2027 Admissions: 11 Nigerian Universities Release Lists
2026/2027 Admissions: 11 Nigerian Universities Release Lists

Eleven Nigerian universities have released admission lists for the 2026–2027 academic session, according to MySchool, a Nigerian admission-tracking platform. The institutions include Lagos State University (LASU), Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE), University of Delta (UNIDEL), Adeleke University, University of Benin (UNIBEN), Ebonyi State University (EBSU), Al-Istiqama University Sumaila, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Kwara State University (KWASU), Sa'adu Zungur University (SAZU), and Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH).

Release Stages and Institution-Specific Updates

The releases include merit, first-batch, second-batch, and school-portal/JAMB CAPS admission lists, depending on the institution. While most institutions have released merit or first-batch lists, only SAZU has published both its merit and second-batch lists for the 2026-2027 session.

Al-Istiqama University (AUSU), located in Sumaila, Kano State, extended its Post-UTME application deadline as part of its admission exercise. Sa'adu Zungur University (SAZU), in Bauchi State, invited successful candidates for physical screening, scheduled from September 28 to October 9, 2026, according to the university's admission notice. UNIDEL has commenced arrangements for online clearance for newly admitted students.

How to Check Your 2026/2027 Admission Status

Candidates should check two main platforms: JAMB CAPS and their university's official admission portal. To use JAMB CAPS, log into the JAMB e-Facility portal, access CAPS, and select the admission-status option from the dashboard. This is particularly important for universities like UNIBEN and UNIZIK that upload offers directly to the central system.

If an offer appears on JAMB CAPS, candidates can accept or reject it. Those who want the admission should select Accept and complete the process within any applicable deadline. Candidates are advised not to leave an offer unattended while waiting for another institution without checking the consequences.

University Portals and Additional Requirements

University portals may provide additional information about acceptance fees, online clearance, physical screening, required documents, school fees, and registration deadlines. Requirements vary by institution. After accepting an offer, candidates should print their JAMB admission letter, which is commonly required during registration and physical clearance. They should also ensure their WAEC, NECO, or other accepted O'Level results have been uploaded to JAMB where required.

What If Your Name Is Not on the First List?

Not seeing a name on the first list does not necessarily mean the admission opportunity is lost. Universities release offers in stages, including merit, first-batch, second-batch, and supplementary lists. SAZU, for example, has already released both its merit and second-batch lists. Candidates should continue checking JAMB CAPS and their university's portal for subsequent releases.

Admission is still ongoing, and more universities are expected to release lists as they complete their screening processes. LASU alone recorded over 84,000 applications in 2026, highlighting the competitive nature of admissions this cycle.
