Edo State Governor Awards Full Scholarships to Children of Slain Army General

The Edo State Government, under the leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo, has announced the award of full educational scholarships to the three children of the late Brigadier-General Oseni Omoh Braimah. This significant gesture aims to support the family of the fallen military officer, who was killed during a terror attack in Borno State.

Details of the Scholarship Initiative

According to a statement issued by the governor's Chief Press Secretary, Patrick Akhere, on Thursday, April 16, 2026, the scholarships will fund the education of the beneficiaries from their current academic levels up to university. The beneficiaries include Farida Hussain-Braimah, an 18-year-old 100-level Software Engineering student at Nile University in Abuja; Amir Hussain-Braimah, a 16-year-old SS3 student at Olumawu Senior School in Abuja; and Yasmeen Hussain-Braimah, a 12-year-old JSS2 pupil at Olumawu Junior Secondary School in Abuja.

Governor Okpebholo emphasized that this initiative is a moral obligation and a reflection of responsible governance, intended to honour the sacrifice of military personnel and ensure their children have uninterrupted access to education. He stated that the state government is committed to supporting these children throughout their academic journeys to help secure stable futures for them.
