A heartbreaking event unfolded in Ondo State as a woman, identified as Oluwasola Victoria Adebayo, tragically slumped and died while waiting for her child to complete the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The incident occurred at an examination center located at Ilara-Mokin Junction in the Ifedore Local Government Area, sending shockwaves through the community.
Details of the Sudden Collapse
According to reports, the deceased had accompanied her child to the examination venue on Monday, April 20, 2026. Shortly after arriving, she began to feel unwell, complaining of weakness before unexpectedly collapsing. Sympathizers at the scene made frantic efforts to revive her, but these attempts proved unsuccessful, and she was pronounced dead on the spot. Her child, who was inside the examination hall at the time, remained unaware of the tragic development unfolding outside.
Community Reaction and Police Confirmation
The incident quickly drew a crowd of onlookers, with many expressing profound shock and sadness over the sudden death. A resident of the area, who knew the deceased as "Mummy Ayo," revealed that she had mentioned earlier that morning about accompanying her daughter to the UTME center. The Ondo State Police Command confirmed the death through its spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, who stated, "The command notes with deep concern a sad incident involving the sudden death of a woman in Ilara Mokin."
Family Notification and Remains Released
Following the incident, the family of the deceased was promptly contacted. After thorough checks, her remains were released to Mr. Apapa Olamilekan, who identified himself as her son and an officer of the Nigeria Legion in Akure.
