Baptist Boys' High School (BBHS) in Abeokuta, a cornerstone of Nigeria's secondary education system, has officially released the schedule for its 103rd Founders' Day Anniversary. The celebrations are set to take place over two days, from January 23 to January 24, 2026.
NEC Greenlights Anniversary Programme
The detailed programme follows decisions made during the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the BBHS Old Boys' Association, which convened on January 3, 2026. The council has renewed its call to alumni across the globe, urging them to come home and partake in the historic festivities. This gathering aims to strengthen the enduring bond among generations of graduates from the prestigious institution.
Schedule of Events: From Luncheon to Grand Finale
The activities will commence with a significant pre-event on January 22: a presidential luncheon at the Banquet Hall of Conference Hotel in Abeokuta. This luncheon will feature former Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, as the guest speaker, setting a reflective tone for the anniversary.
The official anniversary events kick off on January 23 at 4:00 p.m. with the Agora/Variety Nite. This informal social gathering, to be held at the Agora Ground within the school, is designed to foster camaraderie. Each branch and class set will receive a complimentary table for ten. While food will be available for purchase, attendees are encouraged to bring their own drinks and light refreshments to share. The dress code for the evening is informal.
The main anniversary day is January 24, with participants expected to dress in white attire paired with the school cap. The day's proceedings will begin with an Anniversary Thanksgiving Service from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., followed by the National Congress from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m..
Awards and Inductions Culminate Celebrations
The celebrations will reach their climax with the anniversary luncheon. This event will be particularly momentous as it will feature the presentation of the Distinguished Old Boy of the Year 2025 Award and various Merit Awards. Furthermore, the ceremony will witness the formal induction of new honorees into the prestigious BBHS Wall of Fame for 2026, cementing their legacy within the school's storied history.
The planned events underscore the school's vibrant alumni network and its commitment to honoring tradition while celebrating contemporary achievements. The return of old boys from around the world is anticipated to make the 103rd anniversary a memorable chapter in BBHS Abeokuta's illustrious history.
