The university's statement read: "The Senate of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), at its 433rd meeting held on March 4, 2026, has approved the expulsion of 171 students for falsifying their admission entry qualifications."
Violation of University Regulations
The university noted that this offence constitutes a clear violation of Section 20.7, Category A (vii) of its General Examinations and Academic Regulations, which prescribes expulsion for such misconduct. The affected students cut across different departments and academic levels, highlighting the widespread nature of the issue.
This action is described as part of ongoing efforts to sanitize academic records and ensure that only qualified candidates gain admission to the institution.
Additional Expulsion for Examination Assault
In a related development, the Senate also approved the expulsion of Yusuf Muhammad Sani, a student from the Department of Civil Engineering. He was expelled for alleged involvement in physically assaulting invigilators during an examination.
