The Chancellor of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Dr. Tunji Olowolafe, has officially launched an ambitious digital transformation initiative designed to reposition the institution for the challenges of a rapidly evolving global economy. Project Digi-Teach: Empowering 650 Lecturers with Digital Proficiency
At the core of this transformative agenda is Project Digi-Teach EKSU, a flagship program specifically created to equip all 650 lecturers with cutting-edge digital skills. This ambitious initiative targets achieving 100 percent digital proficiency among EKSU's academic staff, regardless of their discipline or prior experience level.
According to Chancellor Olowolafe, the program is founded on a fundamental principle: "You cannot teach what you do not know. You cannot inspire students to embrace the future if you are still uncertain about it." The initiative will provide lecturers with comprehensive access to modern teaching tools, advanced digital platforms, and specialized training tailored to meet the evolving demands of contemporary classrooms and workplaces.
This builds upon existing efforts by the Tunji Olowolafe Foundation, which has already sponsored 37 lecturers to attend international conferences since 2024. However, Digi-Teach represents a more inclusive approach, with Olowolafe declaring, "No lecturer will be left behind. Every member of the faculty will be brought forward."

Beyond enhancing digital literacy among faculty, EKSU is actively strengthening connections between classroom learning and practical industry applications. A significant development is the EKSU Trading Room and Financial Market Trading Programme, which has evolved into a fully accredited diploma course through collaboration with CFA Institute Nigeria.
This innovative program offers students hands-on exposure to financial markets through sophisticated simulated trading environments. What began in 2025 as a modest facility has transformed into a state-of-the-art trading hub, complete with advanced computing systems, high-speed internet connectivity, and immersive learning tools. Chancellor Olowolafe specifically acknowledged Professor Micheal Ojo Oke of the Faculty of Management Sciences for his instrumental role in bringing this project to fruition.
Expanding Global Opportunities Through Strategic Partnerships
In another landmark achievement, EKSU has become the first African university to gain accreditation on Springpod, a London-based virtual career platform. This strategic partnership opens unprecedented global opportunities for students and graduates, providing them with free access to virtual work experiences with major international companies including Amazon, Barclays, Deloitte, and Rolls-Royce.
Olowolafe emphasized the university's commitment to producing globally competitive graduates, stating, "We are building graduates who are globally competitive — already credentialed, already investible, already ready."
