Ibadan Polytechnic Appoints Olufunto Ojewunmi as Acting Registrar
The Polytechnic, Ibadan has officially appointed Mrs. Olufunto Abimbola Ojewunmi as the Acting Registrar of the institution. This appointment follows the retirement of the former Acting Registrar, Mr. Joseph Adewumi Ogunjimi, who reached the statutory retirement age of 65 years. Mrs. Ojewunmi, who previously served as a Senior Deputy Registrar, will now oversee the administrative functions of the polytechnic in this new capacity.
Background and Career of Mrs. Ojewunmi
Until her recent appointment, Mrs. Ojewunmi was in charge of the Personnel Unit at The Polytechnic, Ibadan. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education from the University of Lagos, which she obtained before embarking on her career in educational administration. Born in Ibadan into the Fadipe family, she joined the service of The Polytechnic, Ibadan as an Administrative Officer in 1992. Over the years, she has risen through the ranks to achieve the position of Senior Deputy Registrar, demonstrating dedication and expertise in her field.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Ojewunmi has served in various capacities within the institution. She has worked in multiple faculties, where she held the role of Faculty Officer at different times. Her last posting was at the Faculty of Science before she was deployed to the Personnel Unit as Deputy Registrar (Personnel). Additionally, she has served as Deputy Registrar at the Continuing Education Centre (CEC), further broadening her administrative experience.
Leadership and Professional Affiliations
Mrs. Ojewunmi has also taken on leadership roles, including representing the Rector of the institution as acting Chairman of the Governing Board of The Polytechnic, Ibadan High School for several years. This experience has equipped her with valuable insights into governance and educational management. Professionally, she is a member of the Association of Higher Education Professionals and the Association of University Administrators, both based in the United Kingdom, highlighting her commitment to professional development and international standards in higher education administration.
Appointment Details and Personal Life
Her appointment as Acting Registrar takes effect from March 23, 2026, as approved by the Governing Council of The Polytechnic, Ibadan. The appointment is set for an initial period of six months, during which she will be responsible for steering the registrar's office. On a personal note, Mrs. Ojewunmi is described as a devoted Christian, happily married, and blessed with children, reflecting a balanced life that complements her professional achievements.
