JAMB Announces 2026 UTME Mock Test Results and Delists 20 CBT Centres
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released the results for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mock test. In a significant move, the board has also delisted 20 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres from its approved facilities list, citing technical inadequacies identified during the recent mock examination.
Details of the Mock Examination and Results Release
According to a statement issued by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the spokesperson for JAMB, on Tuesday in Abuja, a total of 224,597 candidates registered for the mock test. Out of this number, 152,586 candidates successfully sat for the examination, which was conducted across 989 CBT centres nationwide. Candidates can now check their results by sending MOCKRESULT via SMS to 55019 or 66019, using the same phone number (SIM) that was registered for the 2026 UTME.
Reasons for Delisting CBT Centres and Fraud Warnings
The 20 CBT centres were removed from JAMB's approved list due to technical issues that arose during the mock test held last Saturday. Dr. Benjamin emphasized that these centres failed to meet the required standards, leading to their delisting. Additionally, the board issued a stern warning to candidates about fraudulent activities. It advised candidates to be cautious of individuals or groups, particularly on platforms like WhatsApp, who claim to facilitate score inflation. Such actions are false and criminal, and any candidate found involved will have their registration cancelled. If discovered after the examination, results may be withheld or withdrawn.
Upcoming Main UTME and Broader Implications
The main UTME is scheduled to take place from Thursday, 16th April 2026. This announcement underscores JAMB's commitment to maintaining integrity and technical standards in Nigeria's tertiary education admissions process. The delisting of CBT centres highlights ongoing efforts to improve examination infrastructure and prevent malpractice, ensuring a fair and transparent testing environment for all candidates.
