JAMB Announces Third Batch of 2026 UTME Results

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released the third batch of results for candidates who participated in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This latest announcement pertains to the examination held on Monday, April 20, 2026, bringing the total number of result batches released so far to three. The board has advised affected candidates to access their results through its designated official checking platforms.

How Candidates Can Access Their UTME Results

In a statement issued yesterday and signed by JAMB spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the board provided clear instructions for candidates to view their scores. According to the statement, candidates can access their results by sending the keyword 'UTMERESULT' to either 55019 or 66019 via SMS. It is crucial that candidates use the phone number registered during their examination application to ensure successful retrieval of their scores.

The statement emphasized, "The results for Monday, 20th, have been released. Candidates can view their results using the usual process." This process is consistent with previous batches, aiming to streamline access and reduce confusion among the large number of examinees.

Background on the 2026 UTME Examination

Recall that JAMB had earlier released results for candidates who wrote the examination on Thursday, April 16, as well as April 17 and 18, respectively. The 2026 UTME has seen significant participation, with over 2.2 million candidates registered across 966 computer-based test centers nationwide. The examination exercise is scheduled to conclude on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, marking the end of this year's testing period.

Incident of Hijab Harassment During UTME

Meanwhile, the Association of Nigerian Imams has expressed concern over reports of hijab-wearing students facing harassment and denial of access at examination centers during the UTME. In a statement, the association's National Secretary, Dr. Umar Farooq Abdullahi, condemned an incident at the Esther Oshikoya CBT Centre in Ibadan on Thursday, April 16, 2026.

According to the report, candidate Fatimah Salaudeen and other female students were allegedly compelled to remove their hijab before accreditation. Dr. Umar described this act as a direct violation of their dignity, personhood, and constitutional rights. He stressed that similar reports from Peter Harvard Schools in Abuja indicate that such incidents are not isolated, calling for prosecution and protection of religious freedom.

The association has welcomed condemnation of these actions, urging JAMB and relevant authorities to ensure that all candidates are treated with respect and without discrimination based on religious attire. This issue highlights broader concerns about inclusivity and safety in Nigeria's educational assessment processes.
