Theme and Focus of the Convention

At a pre-convention press conference, the Global President of NUDGOSA, Fasiu Bakenne, outlined the convention's theme: “Empowering Tomorrow: Quality Education, Digital Skills, and Sustainable Development.” This theme underscores the association's strategic emphasis on equipping the school and its students to excel in a technology-driven world while maintaining strong moral values, discipline, and excellence. Bakenne highlighted that the convention will serve as a platform to reinforce these core principles and inspire current students towards academic success.

Background and Evolution of the School

Founded on January 19, 1962, by the Nawair-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria with an initial cohort of 33 students, Nawair-Ud-Deen Grammar School has grown into a respected institution producing leaders and professionals across Nigeria and beyond. Originally established to empower Muslim children through quality education and character development, the school has evolved into an inclusive establishment serving the broader community without discrimination, reflecting its commitment to diversity and excellence.

Projects and Contributions by NUDGOSA

Bakenne detailed the tangible contributions NUDGOSA has made to the school's development, including:

  • Infrastructural upgrades such as renovated gates and perimeter fencing.
  • Improved classrooms with modern amenities.
  • Solar-powered lighting systems for energy efficiency.
  • CCTV-supported security systems to ensure safety.
  • Healthcare support and learning materials for students.
  • Scholarship schemes for indigent students to promote access to education.

These initiatives have been realized through the collaborative efforts of NUDGOSA sets and chapters across Nigeria and the diaspora, demonstrating a strong commitment to the holistic wellbeing of students, teaching, and non-teaching staff.

Highlight: Unveiling of the 50-Bed Girls’ Hostel

One of the major highlights of the convention will be the unveiling of a 50-bed Girls’ Hostel constructed by the NUDGOSA UK Chapter. Bakenne described this project as a landmark intervention that emphasizes the association's dedication to girls' education, student welfare, and providing a safe learning environment. He praised the unity and dedication of NUDGOSA members, noting that such contributions create enduring legacies that benefit present and future generations.

Call to Action for Alumni

Hon. Bakenne urged all alumni, both locally and internationally, to actively participate in the convention and remain united in supporting their alma mater. He emphasized the importance of mentorship, professional expertise, advocacy, and sustained financial support to ensure the school's continued growth and success. The convention aims to foster a sense of community and collective responsibility among alumni.

Acknowledgments and Future Outlook

Expressing deep gratitude, Bakenne thanked the school management, founding fathers, traditional rulers, religious leaders, sponsors, partners, and the host community of Obantoko, led by Kabiyesi, the Ntoko of Obantoko, for their support and hospitality.
