A graduate of the University of Ibadan (UI) has captured online attention by publicly sharing her academic journey, which began with a disappointing CGPA in her first year but culminated in a proud finish. Precious Ebiaku took to social media platforms to display her final-year results, sparking conversations about perseverance and personal growth in higher education.
From Despair to Triumph: A Student's Emotional Journey
Ebiaku recounted that upon seeing her 100-level CGPA of 2.93 out of 4.00, she felt as if her world was ending. This initial setback occurred as she transitioned from her first to second year at the university. However, with support from family members, particularly her mother and sister, she managed to navigate this challenging period, which coincided with the extended 2020 lockdown.
She expressed her emotions in a heartfelt post, writing: "Thinking about my days at the University of Ibadan always brings tears to my eyes." Her academic timeline included writing the Post-UTME on September 14, 2018, matriculating on June 26, 2019, taking her final school exam on February 7, 2025, and being convoked on November 11, 2025.
Remarkable Improvement and Final Achievement
Despite the rocky start, Ebiaku's dedication paid off significantly. She proudly announced that she finished her 500-level with a CGPA of 3.43 out of 4.00, earning a Second Class Honours (Upper Division) in Nursing Science. She described this achievement as a crown she wears with her shoulders high, symbolizing her pride and hard-won success.
In her own words: "500L showed me several shades of shege, but I didn’t just finish - I finished well. A CGPA of 3.43/4.00 is a crown I’ll wear with my shoulders high."
