In a significant move for global skills development, Honourable Unyime Idem, member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, has sponsored four young Nigerians from Akwa Ibom State for specialized professional training in the People's Republic of China.
Empowering Youth Through International Training
The initiative, part of Rep. Idem's Foreign Skills and Human Capital Development Programme, saw beneficiaries Peter Saturday Peter, Ndifreke Sunday Otu, Anietie Mark Etuk, and Emmanson Aniekan Eno depart for China as the 18th batch of participants. The programme, fully funded by the lawmaker who also chairs the House Committee on Public Procurement, aims to equip 100 Akwa Ibom youths with globally competitive technical and digital skills.
During the official send-off ceremony held at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja, the participants expressed their excitement about the life-changing opportunity. The training represents a cornerstone of Idem's constituency development agenda and demonstrates his commitment to human capital development.
Specialized Training in High-Demand Fields
The four beneficiaries will undergo intensive training in two cutting-edge fields: Eco-Leather Technology and Digital Security. These sectors are currently transforming industrial innovation and global employment landscapes, positioning Nigerian youths to meet the demands of the 21st-century economy.
Lead beneficiary Peter Saturday Peter described the curriculum as both transformative and future-focused, with modules specifically designed to enhance innovation, creativity, and productivity. "We are deeply grateful to Hon. Idem for this life-changing opportunity," Peter stated during the ceremony.
Building Global Competitiveness
Peter, a media and public relations practitioner known for advocating good governance, praised Rep. Idem's consistent record of impactful representation. He highlighted the lawmaker's outstanding legislative performance, proactive oversight, and unwavering investment in human empowerment.
"This programme will not only enhance our technical knowledge but also broaden our perspective on how to apply these skills to uplift our communities and contribute to national growth," Peter emphasized. He described Idem as "a true ambassador of the Akwa Ibom spirit - visionary, people-focused, and globally minded."
The initiative underscores the importance of strategic international collaboration in skills development and represents a practical approach to preparing Nigerian youth for global opportunities in emerging technological fields.
