Movie in the Park marked its Career Day Edition on May 1 at Muri Okunola Park, offering an evening of film, conversation, and relaxation for workers and families after the day's celebrations. The event featured a screening of 'The Meeting', a film produced over 15 years ago by Rita Dominic, who also appeared to address the audience. The crowd responded warmly to the screening, with many applauding the film's humour and message.
After-Party and Networking
After the screening, the after-party kicked off immediately, turning the park into a lively space of music, networking, and unwinding. The edition was powered by Campari and supported by Pepsi, Munch It, and Malta Guinness.
Rita Dominic's Message
Rita Dominic, speaking at the event, shared her journey into film production and encouraged attendees to pursue their ambitions with confidence and persistence.
Founder's Vision
The Founder and Curator of Movie in the Park said, 'We wanted to create a space where workers could truly wind down after the demands of the day and the significance of Workers' Day—something light, joyful, and community-driven. Our next stop is in the East – Enugu and Abia.'
Attendee Reactions
A first-time attendee, Ibrahim Aisha, described the experience as refreshing, saying it was unexpected to find such a relaxed but engaging cultural setup in the middle of the city. 'I came out of curiosity, but I ended up staying for everything. The movie, the energy, and the people made it worth it,' she said.
A regular attendee, Musa Habeeb, noted that the edition maintained the signature Movie in the Park atmosphere while still feeling fresh. 'Every edition has its own vibe, but this one felt especially intimate and celebratory. It's become something I look forward to,' he said.
