Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has finally addressed the persistent rumors that he and his wife, singer Simi, welcomed twins. In a recent interview, he set the record straight, confirming that they only had a son. The speculation, which began earlier this year, may have been fueled by his own cryptic social media posts and the purchase of two cars around the same time.
Speaking on the Great Day Houston podcast on Wednesday, Gold opened up about his family life and his new musical project, the Fuji Xtra era. He described Simi as his creative soundboard and revealed that their first daughter, Deja, is already showing signs of musical talent. 'It's interesting to be married to another fantastic songwriter,' he said. 'My wife and I didn't give birth to twins; it's just internet rumors. We have a son.'
The twin rumor traces back to January, when Gold posted a cryptic Snapchat story that read: 'Asked God for another child and He blessed me double.' The internet quickly assumed the couple had twins. However, the confusion was compounded when it emerged that Gold had purchased two cars in the days before the official pregnancy announcement, leading some to speculate that the 'double blessing' referred to the vehicles, not children. Gold did not dismiss the confusion entirely, hinting that the speculation may have been intentional on his part.
The official announcement of the pregnancy came not through a press release, but via Gold's music video for 'My Love Is the Same,' which featured Simi with a visible baby bump. The couple has a history of sharing personal news through music videos. Simi later confirmed the birth on April 1st, revealing that their son arrived on March 10th, 2026.
Gold's appearance on the podcast coincides with the rollout of Fuji Xtra, the deluxe edition of his 2025 album Fuji, which was released on May 8. The five-track extension includes collaborations with Olamide on 'Formation,' TML Vibez on 'Shake Shake,' and a duet with Simi on 'Blue Fire,' making the project a true family affair.
The couple married in a private ceremony in January 2019, having been friends and collaborators for years before going public. Their first child, Adejare Kosoko, affectionately known as Deja, was born in May 2020. Gold also shared that Deja is already showing interest in music, hinting that she may follow in her parents' footsteps.
