A viral 2020 social media post by late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo has resurfaced, leaving fans emotional as tributes continue following reports of his death. The actor passed away on Monday, May 12, at a Lagos hospital after reportedly battling liver cancer.
Resurfaced Post Shows Ekubo's Dream of Fatherhood
In the resurfaced Facebook post from May 27, 2020, Ekubo expressed excitement about becoming a father, using his trademark humor. He wrote: 'Dear God of Children, I can't wait to have kids, so I can call them from their room in the other wing of the mansion to come & pass me the remote control right next to me on the couch.' He also prayed about marriage and family, adding, 'Father Lord, you already know I'm user friendly, use me oh Lord, at the right time of course. Team #MarriageBeforeKids.'
Grace Makun's Disclosure Sparks Speculation
The resurfaced post comes amid a fresh disclosure by Grace Makun, wife of celebrity designer Yomi Casual. While mourning Ekubo, she listed a 'wife' among those who would miss him, alongside his parents, siblings, colleagues, gang, and fans. This has led to speculation that Ekubo may have secretly been married before his death.
Silent Battle with Cancer
Filmmaker Stanley Ontop revealed that Ekubo had secretly battled stage 4 liver cancer since 2024. He underwent a liver transplant and briefly returned to work, but complications developed when the transplanted liver failed, leading to his deterioration. Ekubo had previously dissolved his engagement with Fancy Acholonu and often addressed questions about marriage with humor.
