Apo Six Killings: Obasanjo Intervened After Police Executed Six

The Night of June 7th: A case so chilling the nation's President got involved. The Apo Six killing was so chilling that the then-President got involved. Six young friends (five men and one woman) were killed by police officers in the Apo community of Abuja, Nigeria. To explain away the extrajudicial killing, arms were planted on them and they were tagged armed robbers. However, the truth can only stay hidden for so long.

Presidential Response

The President at the time, Olusegun Obasanjo, established a Panel of Inquiry in response to public outrage over the killing. Obasanjo also apologized to the families of the victims and ordered the payment of compensation.

Film Adaptation

The Night of June 7th, coming this June, is inspired by this shocking incident in our country's history. The film stars Femi Branch, Ali Nuhu, Gideon Okeke, and Charles Lenny. It is written and produced by Linda Ikeji and directed by Toka Mcbaror. See teaser below.
