The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested Emmanuel Odiniya, the father of Big Brother Naija All Stars winner Ilebaye Odiniya, following an alleged physical assault at their residence in the Royal Anchor Estate, Wuye, Abuja, early Saturday, May 9.
Earlier that day, Ilebaye had sparked widespread concern after launching an emotional Instagram livestream. In the video, she appeared with a visibly swollen face, crying and pleading for urgent rescue from an assault.
Police Response and Rescue
Spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident to LIB, stating that a report was received at approximately 12:00 a.m. According to SP Adeh, a patrol team from the Wuye Division, supported by operatives from the Department of Operations, arrived at the scene to find the gates locked. Security forces reportedly faced resistance, including the release of fiercely looking dogs intended to deny them entry.
Police eventually gained access to the compound at 2:30 a.m., where they discovered Ilebaye with visible bruises. The reality star and her brothers were rescued and immediately transported to the NNPC Hospital in Abuja for medical treatment.
Investigation Underway
Investigations into the matter are ongoing. SP Adeh stated, Hon. Emmanuel Odiniya is currently in police custody, while a thorough investigation is ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
