Atuonwu recounted an experience in Abuja where a young Catholic priest invited him to minister at an outdoor evangelical outreach during the rainy season. When Atuonwu expressed concern about the weather, the priest confidently declared, "this rain will cooperate with us!" Despite a fierce thunderstorm that day, the rain paused all evening until Atuonwu finished his performance and the crowd dispersed, after which the downpour resumed.
In another instance, a young Catholic priest in Port Harcourt made a profound statement about contentment: "My needs are few, if any. I have little or no need for the money I receive." Atuonwu noted the priest's peaceful demeanor, emphasizing the rarity of such biblical teachings on contentment in modern times.

Atuonwu specifically thanked Cardinal John Onaiyekan for speaking "the naked truth to Mr President, eyeball to eyeball." He praised the cardinal for his courage, noting that few Christian leaders speak their minds so boldly without guile.
