Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has opened up about the tender father-daughter conversations he shares with his two daughters, Imade and Hailey, revealing that they have started confiding in him about boys they are crushing on at school. The disclosure came during a candid interview on the BBC podcast "This Is Africa," where the singer reflected on the realities of fatherhood and his evolving lifestyle.
Davido's Fatherhood Revelation
During the podcast, Davido, whose full name is David Adedeji Adeleke, shared that both daughters have begun telling him about their school crushes, a development he admitted caught him off guard. "Now my daughters are telling me about the boys they're crushing on at school. That's when I realised I have officially become a full-grown father," he said in the interview.
The singer described his daughters' openness as both a blessing and a lot to process, calling parenthood at this stage "bliss" while acknowledging that it has raised the stakes considerably. The fact that Imade and Hailey feel comfortable enough to talk to him about their crushes speaks to the strong bond he has built with them outside his demanding music career.
Energy, Faith, and Aging
When asked about where he draws the energy to keep up with his responsibilities, Davido credited his faith without hesitation, stating it "has to come from God." He also made a candid admission about his changing stamina, noting that his nights out have dropped from five times a week to just two. "What used to be five nights out a week has quietly become closer to two," he joked, indicating that his lifestyle is evolving whether he likes it or not.
The Singer Behind the Father
Davido is one of Nigeria's most recognisable music exports, with a career spanning over a decade and numerous chart-topping hits across Africa and beyond. Away from the stage, he has been increasingly vocal about his role as a father, and this latest interview adds another layer to his public identity.
Davido's Recent Jab at MC Oluomo
In related news, Davido recently waded into a simmering dispute between MC Oluomo and his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke. The singer took a pointed jab at the transport union chief in an Instagram story post on Monday, July 27, 2026. Addressing MC Oluomo directly in pidgin English, he wrote: "@kingmcoluomo dem say u Dey game ... I doubt lol look ur mirror."
Davido's openness about fatherhood and his candid remarks continue to endear him to fans, who appreciate his willingness to share personal moments despite his superstar status.
