Lady Recounts Strict Choir Checks in Deeper Life Church
A Nigerian lady who grew up in the Deeper Life Bible Church has shared her experience as a pastor's daughter, detailing the stringent checks female choir members had to undergo before being allowed to sing during church programs. Her TikTok post has sparked widespread reactions, with many former members relating to her story.
What Happened Before Choir Singing
In a video posted on TikTok under the handle @nwa.awka1, the lady explained that during church programs, the women's leader would take female choir members to the restroom to ensure they were not wearing tight long pants. If anyone was caught wearing such clothing, she would not be allowed to sing. She described the practice as funny and noted that it reflected the strictness of the church in the 1990s to 2019 era.
She added: "I remember how I used to think that other denominations are not going to make heaven if they don't repent and join Deeper Life." She clarified that some Deeper Life regions take the doctrine too seriously, adding their own rules.

The post attracted numerous comments from people who identified with her story. One user, Odinaa, said: "Though we've outgrown the church doctrines, I still can't find myself leaving Deeper Life. I so love Daddy K." Another user, sommyblessed, commented: "Born and brought up in Deeper Life, though am no longer in Deeper Life but I still love and listens to W.F. Kumuyi's sermons." User _mimi_65 advised: "Just do everything moderately, let your moderation be known unto all men… simple."
Another commenter, Just a girl, said: "The only thing I gained in Deeper Life is I learnt violin, keyboard and clarinet. I was learning trumpet when I left. Of course the word scriptures to scriptures. My dad is a pastor." Benny styled it remarked: "Am a baddie but I still attend Deeper Life till date. Infact God answered my most wanted prayer from Pastor Kumuyi's last programme in Port Harcourt."
