Days After Zuchu Split, Diamond Platnumz Says All His Assets Are in Mother's Name
Diamond Platnumz: All Assets Registered in Mother's Name After Split

Days after a highly publicised split from his partner, singer Zuchu, Tanzanian music superstar Diamond Platnumz announced that his cars, homes, and businesses are all registered in his mother's name, declaring her his sole 'next of kin'. The revelation has revived intense comparisons with footballer Achraf Hakimi's widely discussed divorce saga.

Timing of the Announcement

The disclosure came during his mother Sandra Kassim's birthday celebration, just three days after Zuchu publicly announced the couple's separation. Zuchu, a fellow WCB Wasafi signee, was notably absent from the family event. Diamond stated to gathered guests: 'My cars, homes and businesses are registered in my mother's name. What's mine is hers.'

The timing has fuelled social media speculation that the declaration was a calculated defensive reaction to the fresh relationship breakdown. Officially, Diamond presented the arrangement as a reflection of gratitude for his mother's sacrifices before he became one of East Africa's biggest music stars.

Comparison to Achraf Hakimi

Many social media users quickly compared Diamond's revelation to Moroccan footballer Achraf Hakimi's 2023 divorce saga, where claims emerged that Hakimi had registered most of his assets in his mother's name to protect them from the divorce settlement. While those claims were never officially confirmed, Diamond's family actually initiated the comparison years earlier.

In April 2023, at the peak of the Hakimi news cycle, Diamond's mother Sandra posted a picture of her son on Instagram with the caption: 'Best yangu wa ukweli... Hakimi' (My true best friend... Hakimi). Diamond's sister Esma further enabled the narrative by commenting 'Hakimi na mama hakimi' (Hakimi and Hakimi's mom) under the post.

Practicality of the Arrangement

While Diamond claims all his assets are in his mother's name, some have questioned the practicality. Personal assets like cars and houses can easily be registered under someone else's name. However, Diamond also owns major businesses including Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB) and Wasafi Media, where he serves as CEO and a key shareholder. These companies involve business partners, legal requirements, and financial obligations, making full ownership transfer complex due to legal, tax, and regulatory considerations.

Some believe Diamond's statement may have been more about expressing deep trust in his mother than suggesting every part of his business empire has been legally transferred to her.
