Falz Confronts Tinubu Over Kwara Church Attack

Popular Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, widely known as Falz, has launched a scathing attack on President Bola Tinubu following the recent brutal attack on Christ Apostolic Church in Kwara State. The incident, which occurred in Eruku community, saw multiple worshippers abducted by suspected bandits during a service.

In a strongly worded post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, the outspoken artist didn't mince words as he called for the President's immediate resignation. Falz accused Tinubu of failing in his constitutional duty to protect Nigerian citizens from recurring violent attacks.

Historic Tweet Comes Back to Haunt Tinubu

The rapper strategically referenced a 2014 tweet by then-opposition leader Bola Tinubu, where he had demanded former President Goodluck Jonathan's resignation over similar security challenges. Falz used this historical moment to highlight what he described as Tinubu's failure to uphold the same standards he once demanded from others.

"How many more people have to be kidnapped and murdered in cold blood?" Falz questioned in his viral post. He continued with a direct accusation: "You have consistently shown your unwillingness to protect the lives and property of our people, despite pretending to care in the past. RESIGN NOW!"

Social Media Erupts with Mixed Reactions

The celebrity's bold statement quickly generated significant traction online, with Nigerians expressing diverse opinions about his position. Legit.ng compiled various reactions that reflected the nation's divided sentiments regarding the security situation.

One user, @Yomi16billz, expressed pessimism about the country's future, stating: "It's a sad reality but I'm sorry to tell you as a youth in this country—between the age of 25 and 40—just know that you cannot experience that Nigeria of your dream anymore."

Another supporter, @Real_jaeflex, praised Falz for his consistency: "History will be kind to you because you always use your platform to speak up when it truly matters, never just for personal gain. Some artists with much bigger platforms don't seem to care at all."

However, some commentators suggested redirecting the criticism toward state governors and the broader security architecture. @NiccieKKC noted: "We should likely focus this to governors and the security architect of those states and the entire country... We really need to reform our security structure in Nigeria."

Celebrity Solidarity and Past Consequences

Falz isn't the only celebrity voice condemning the Kwara church attack. Earlier, veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) and popular actress Funke Akindele had also expressed their heartbreak over the incident.

In a related development, musician Jaywon revealed the personal cost he paid for previously speaking out against insecurity. The artist shared court documents showing he had been slapped with a ₦100 million lawsuit for addressing similar security concerns in the past.

The growing chorus of celebrity voices highlights increasing public frustration with Nigeria's security challenges, particularly the seeming inability to prevent attacks on places of worship and other soft targets.

As the debate continues, many Nigerians are watching to see how the Tinubu administration will respond to both the security crisis and the mounting public criticism from influential figures like Falz.
