During an appearance on The BTS Reality podcast, the musician argued that the 30s are the best time to settle down, urging young people not to succumb to societal pressure to marry earlier.
Falz's Advice: Prioritise Personal Growth in Your 20s
Falz, known for his socially conscious lyrics, explained that most individuals under 30 have not yet developed the emotional, financial, and mental maturity required for a successful marriage. He described the 20s as a period for exploration, learning, and self-discovery, rather than for making lifelong commitments.
"Getting married in your 30s is the best. Don't let anyone pressure you into getting married before 30," Falz stated. "By 30s, you have gained more life experiences. In your 20s, you are still figuring yourself out. Your 20s are for learning, growing, and enjoying life. In your 30s, you combine all the knowledge and try to direct your life. So, it is better to wait till your 30s before getting married."
Social Pressure and Economic Realities
The rapper also highlighted social pressure as a key driver pushing young people into premature unions. He believes that many are influenced by external expectations rather than personal readiness. However, his comments have drawn mixed reactions from Nigerians online, with some fully supporting his stance while others question its practicality in today's economic climate.
