The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Honourable Emmanuel Odiniya over an alleged assault on his daughter, Miss Ilebaye Odiniya, winner of the 2023 season of Big Brother Naija. The incident has sparked widespread concern after the reality TV star appeared in an emotional live video in the early hours of Saturday, alleging she was attacked by some men.

Incident Details

In the widely circulated video, Ilebaye was seen crying and pleading for help, showing visible swelling on her face while being beaten. The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, issued a statement confirming the arrest and detention of Honourable Odiniya, assuring that a thorough investigation has been launched.

Police Response

According to the statement, on May 9, 2026, at about 12:00 a.m., the FCT Police Command responded to a distress call from Royal Anchor Estate, Wuye, Abuja, reporting an ongoing physical assault on Ms. Ilebaye Odiniya Emmanuel by her father. A patrol team from Wuye Division, supported by operatives from the Department of Operations, was immediately deployed. The Police Public Relations Officer also monitored the operation.

Upon arrival, officers found the residence gate locked. After several attempts, access was gained at about 2:30 a.m. Ilebaye, found with visible bruises, was rescued alongside her brothers and rushed to NNPC Hospital, Abuja, for medical attention.

Current Status
