Nollywood actor and filmmaker Ikechukwu Mitchel Ogbonna, popularly known as IK Ogbonna, on Sunday, July 19, 2026, paid a heartfelt tribute to his late best friend, Alexx Ekubo, more than two months after the actor passed away. Ogbonna shared a video compilation of cherished moments with Ekubo on his official Instagram page, capturing their laughter and memories together.

In the caption accompanying the video, Ogbonna wrote: “It was all God. It was all love. It was all laughter. It was all dreams. It was all family. You will forever remain a part of us. Rest on, Ekuuuuu.” The post came after Ogbonna had taken a break from social media to mourn his friend.

Alexx Ekubo died on May 11, 2026, following a battle with stage four kidney cancer. He was buried in Arochukwu, Abia State, on June 18, 2026. Ogbonna had publicly addressed Ekubo’s death for the first time a few days prior to this tribute.
