Kenyan Woman Addresses Viral Incident with Russian Tourist

A Kenyan woman, Choice Kinoti, has publicly addressed her involvement in videos that went viral after being secretly recorded by a Russian tourist known as Yaytseslav. The incident, which sparked widespread outrage online, involved the tourist filming private moments with women in Ghana and sharing them on social media platforms.

Details of the Relationship and Promises Made

In an interview, Kinoti revealed that she was in a relationship with the Russian man, Vyacheslav Trahov, who introduced himself as Yaytseslav. She claimed to have known him as a streamer and described how he would approach women, including herself, often around the Accra Mall area in Ghana. Kinoti stated that Yaytseslav had promised to take her to a visa-free country for her birthday, which she viewed as part of his grooming tactics.

"Just like any man when you are approached, you don’t see a future immediately. It depends on how the guy grooms you and marinates you," Kinoti said. "He would ask me from morning to evening, 'where would you like me to take you? Do you want us to go to Russia for your birthday?' I didn’t see a future, but I was going with the flow because he is capable."

HIV Status and Personal Defense

When questioned about her HIV status, Kinoti firmly denied having unprotected intercourse with Yaytseslav. She emphasized her cautious nature and family background to defend her actions.

"As my family and friends know, I’m not a girl who is stupid enough to meet strangers and have unprotected sex with them. That’s not in my character," she explained. "My family knows I’m a smart girl. The spotlight found me in the wrong ways. I’m also human. I did not have unprotected sex, and I’ve never. My dad is a lecturer, and he counselled me before I went to campus."

Public Reactions and Broader Context

The viral videos have led to significant backlash on social media, with many users criticizing Kinoti and other women involved. Comments ranged from accusations of shameful behavior to concerns about health risks. Meanwhile, Yaytseslav has previously broken his silence on the outrage, hinting at financial aspects of his interactions with the women.

This incident highlights ongoing issues related to privacy, consent, and the exploitation of individuals in digital spaces, particularly in cross-cultural contexts involving tourists and local populations.
