Man with 'world's smallest micropenis' launches fundraising appeal for enlargement operation

A man with a penis the size of a sim card has launched a fundraising appeal to make his 0.38inch (1cm) manhood bigger. Michael Phillips says he needs $22,000 for the penis-enlarging procedure.

He says his tiny penis, thought to be the smallest in the world, has been a source of daily embarrassment, has affected his confidence and even makes it difficult to pee.

The struggle with daily tasks

Michael, of North Carolina in the US, said everyday tasks like going to the toilet without making a mess is difficult for him. He currently uses nappies to manage the issue.

He wrote on his GoFundMe page: "I have worked hard to save as much as I can toward the cost of surgery and injections that could help increase the girth and allow me to use the restroom more normally. However, I still need additional support to cover the full cost of the procedure."

A medical condition, not just a joke

Michael, who has featured on TV talking about his tiny member, said he hoped to raise awareness that it was a genuine medical condition and not "just a slang term". A micropenis is a medical condition which causes a willy to be abnormally small, specifically less than 2.6 inches when flaccid but stretched.

Michael says his penis is 0.38inches when erect. He previously told TMZ it was about the size of his fingernail when erect.

The procedure and its costs

The procedure involves an injection of semi-permanent dermal filler into his private parts. He hopes the injection will allow him to stop wearing nappies and use the toilet normally. The total cost is $22,000.

He added: "While this procedure will not cure my Micropenis condition, it would make a significant difference in my daily life by helping me avoid the need for pull ups and regain some normalcy and comfort."

Personal history and diagnosis

Michael first realised he had a small penis in high school when a girl asked him how big it was and she laughed when he told her. He wasn't officially diagnosed with the medical condition until last year.

He wrote on the GoFundMe page: "Your support would mean the world to me and help me take a big step toward living with more dignity and independence. Thank you for your kindness and for considering a donation to my fundraiser."
