Nigerian content creator and skit maker Mr Bishop has opened up about his late wife, Clevy, in a recent interview, sharing a heartbreaking revelation about her health condition. The interview, conducted on Daddy Freeze's podcast, comes a few months after Clevy's passing in 2025.
Mr Bishop's Emotional Revelation
Mr Bishop disclosed that his wife died of HIV/AIDS, a condition she had kept from him throughout their marriage. He revealed that he was unaware of her status until she confessed to him while she was in Calabar, where she had gone for care. According to the skit maker, he only noticed that Clevy frequently fell ill and was often on medication, but she always refused his offers to accompany her to the hospital, insisting she could take care of herself.
As her illness worsened, Mr Bishop confronted her about suspected infidelity after noticing sores on her body. In response, Clevy accused him of infidelity and asked him to take an HIV test. Mr Bishop complied, and the test came back negative.
Allegations Against In-Laws
Mr Bishop also alleged that Clevy's family may have been aware of her HIV status but kept it from him. He recounted an incident during the birth of their first child when his mother-in-law showed up unannounced at his house and signed for a C-section without his knowledge. This led to a temporary separation, but both families intervened, and the couple reconciled.
Before her death, Mr Bishop had traveled to Warri, where he owns a large farm. Clevy called him to say she had gone to Calabar for her family to care for her, leaving their children in Lagos. While there, she confessed her HIV status and advised him to take a comprehensive test, which again came back negative. He also tested their children, and all results were negative.
Public Reactions
The interview has sparked mixed reactions from fans. Some expressed sympathy, while others criticized Mr Bishop for sharing such personal details online. User @keeping_up_with_kokojp commented, 'This is a sad story... She was likely taking her medication to ensure she wouldn't pass the virus to you or the children; that is something to be grateful for.'
@keclara wrote, 'This is a one-sided story, and sadly she isn't here to share her own truth. There likely wasn't even an autopsy, so a lot of what's being said is also one-sided. Whatever the case may be, this kind of story does not belong on the Internet, especially for the sake of her children, who will one day see it.'
@popeyedsailorman_ shared, 'This man is clearly hurt but there are some information that should be taken to the grave for the sake of your children.' Others, like @dr_okpos, remembered Clevy fondly, saying, 'Clevyyyy I just dey come from travel. I no fit forget that lady, she really put laughter for our faces.'
