Chiamaka Maryjane took to Facebook to explain that she now sun-dries her son's half-soaked diapers and makes him wear them again, a practice that has drawn sharp rebukes from parents worldwide.

In her viral post, Maryjane expressed frustration over the expense of diapers, noting that her baby boy rarely defecates, yet still goes through at least five diapers daily. She wrote: "Wearing my baby boy diapers is a total waste of money. My baby boy hardly poo. But I still have to wear him diapers to keep him comfortable and dry when he unirates. Yet he keeps wasting diapers."
She elaborated that each diaper is only half-soaked when discarded, making disposal feel wasteful. "Disposing them is usually hard for me because I feel am wasting money on diapers always. Every day I dispose not less than 5 half soaked diapers," she added.
Sun-Drying and Reusing Diapers
To address her concerns, Maryjane devised a cost-saving measure: after her son urinates, she sun-dries the diaper and then flips it, using the dry side as the front and the previously used side as the back. She explained, "So recently I started sun drying the used diapers and when it dries I turn the other side that was not soaked and I reuse it as the front part while the other part that was sun dried as the back part of diaper. This has really saved me a lot of money."
She also suggested that diaper manufacturers should create products specifically for baby boys to reduce waste and cost, stating, "I think there should a kind of diaper specifically made for baby boys. This will reduce cost."
