Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Rema has expanded his real estate portfolio by acquiring a luxury apartment in Dubai, joining a select group of wealthy Nigerians who own properties in the city. The announcement was made during an unveiling ceremony in Dubai, where his music has enjoyed significant success.
Rema Joins Elite Nigerian Property Owners in Dubai
The singer has become the latest celebrity to acquire choice properties developed by Binghatti Holdings, a premier luxury real estate company based in Dubai, known for its innovative properties and cutting-edge developments. The company's executive, Essam Raghab, revealed the purchase in an Instagram post where he posed next to Rema at the announcement ceremony.
Binghatti Holdings' Chief Sales Officer, Abdullah Binghatti, led the official signing ceremony at the Grand Hyatt Dubai, alongside the company's top management. The event marked the formalization of Rema's ownership of a unit at One by Binghatti, a prestigious development.
Rema's Rise to Global Stardom
This acquisition adds to the assets of one of Africa's biggest pop stars. Since breaking into the Nigerian mainstream in 2019, the Benin-born star has risen to international fame through a consistent release of hit singles. His global smash hit 'Calm Down' achieved viral success, particularly in the United Arab Emirates and the Middle East.
The single made history in the Middle East when it became the first to top the MENA charts, which track music consumption across Middle Eastern and North African countries. This achievement cemented Rema's status as a global artist with a substantial following in the region.
Company Confirms Rema's New Home
In the Instagram post, Essam Raghab wrote: "Binghatti proudly announces global singer and songwriter Rema as the newest homeowner at One by Binghatti. The official signing ceremony took place at Grand Hyatt Dubai, led by Binghatti’s Chief Sales Officer, Abdullah Binghatti, alongside the company’s top management."
Rema now joins a distinguished list of Nigerian property owners in Dubai, including billionaire Abdulsamad Rabiu, Africa's second-richest man; billionaire businessman Femi Otedola; former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; and former Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo.
Investment and Lifestyle Choice
For a global star like Rema, having properties in strategic cities across multiple continents is both an investment and a lifestyle choice. With his third LP reportedly on the way and a world tour to follow, the hitmaker will have a luxury apartment of his own when he performs in the UAE.
This move underscores the growing trend of African celebrities investing in international real estate, particularly in Dubai, which has become a hotspot for luxury living and investment. Rema's acquisition not only diversifies his portfolio but also solidifies his presence in a city where his music has resonated deeply.
