Sebastian Bach Breaks Silence on 1989 Love Triangle with Christina Applegate and Brad Pitt
Rock singer Sebastian Bach has publicly apologized for his involvement in a decades-old love triangle incident involving actress Christina Applegate and actor Brad Pitt. The episode, which dates back to the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards, recently resurfaced following Applegate's memoir revelations, prompting Bach to address the long-standing Hollywood story.
Bach's Surprise and Apology for the Incident
Speaking about the situation, Bach expressed surprise that the story gained renewed attention after Applegate's memoir publication. "I was very surprised when that all hit," Bach stated. He explained that during that period, he was touring extensively and living what he described as the chaotic lifestyle typical of rock musicians at the time.
"I was a single guy on tour, in a band, and I met a lot of girls and I apologize if I hurt her, if I hurt anybody," Bach said. He added, "When you're young you get thrown into the whirlwind of rock 'n' roll, meeting a lot of people and you better hold on tight."
Reflecting on how much time has passed since the incident, Bach emphasized, "It's like being on a roller coaster ... It was a long time ago. If I hurt anybody, I apologize for it."
Christina Applegate's Memoir Revelations
In her memoir You With the Sad Eyes, Applegate recently revisited the moment, recalling that she attended the 1989 awards show with Brad Pitt but spent much of the night watching Sebastian Bach perform with his band Skid Row. She wrote, "I had spent all night staring at Bach, who was then a long-haired hunk fronting the band Skid Row."
Applegate also reflected on Pitt's career status at that time, noting that he had not yet achieved global superstardom. "I hate to put it like this, but Brad back then was still making his way as an actor, and he wasn't yet THE Brad Pitt, the man of so many people's dreams," she wrote.
The Aftermath and Regrets
The actress admitted she impulsively left the event with Bach, leaving Pitt behind. According to her account, Pitt had to drive her mother home and was understandably upset about the situation, leading to a period where the two did not speak for years afterward.
Looking back, Applegate acknowledged she had been very young at the time and later regretted her decision, particularly after learning that Bach was already in a relationship and had a young child.
