Symply Tacha Criticizes Influencers Over Troll's Arrest, Offers Legal Aid
Tacha slams influencers for online troll's arrest

Former Big Brother Naija star and media personality, Natacha Akide, widely known as Symply Tacha, has launched a strong criticism against a popular Nigerian influencer couple. This comes after the arrest of an X (formerly Twitter) user accused of persistently trolling the couple, Lawrence Alabi and his wife, Omotara Alabi, who are based in the United Kingdom.

The Arrest That Sparked Controversy

The controversy erupted when news broke that an X user with the handle @churlarh had been taken into custody. The arrest was linked to a series of online comments directed at the Alabis. The user had repeatedly made personal remarks about their marriage, including insensitive claims about their ability to have children.

This development quickly became a major talking point on Nigerian social media, trending for hours. Public opinion was sharply divided. Some netizens supported the couple's decision to involve the police, viewing it as a stand against cyberbullying. Others, however, saw the arrest as a drastic overreaction and an abuse of power for what they considered to be mere online harassment.

Tacha's Blunt Condemnation and Offer of Help

Reacting to the situation, Symply Tacha did not hold back. In a strongly worded post on her X account, she condemned what she described as blatant hypocrisy and the misuse of privilege by influential Nigerians. She argued that the so-called "Nigerian dream" often turns into a tool for oppression.

"We are the biggest hypocrites to ever exist. We can all agree that the Nigerian dream is to make it well enough to oppress another Nigerian," Tacha wrote.

She specifically questioned the logic behind the arrest, pointing out that such an action would be highly improbable in the United Kingdom, where the couple resides. Tacha suggested that pursuing a civil case in court would have been a more appropriate legal avenue.

"You live in the UK; you know with a billion pounds you can’t do this. Sue the boy; I don’t care. But what you won’t do is humiliate him," she added.

In a surprising move, Tacha extended an offer to assist the arrested individual. She publicly requested for his contact details, pledging to help him secure legal representation. She emphasized that while the user should be held accountable for his actions, the process must be fair and not a spectacle of public shaming driven by wealth or influence.

"If anybody can get me the boy’s contact, send a DM or drop a comment. We will get him out, and the boy in question will still face the law. But what you won’t do is humiliate him," Tacha stated.

Old Tweets Resurface, Adding Twist to Drama

The plot thickened shortly after Tacha's comments gained widespread attention. Old posts from the same X user, @churlarh, resurfaced online. These posts revealed that the user had also targeted Tacha with negative comments in the past. In one of the unearthed tweets, the user had insulted Tacha's appearance, telling her she "looked washed" after she shared a photo online.

This revelation added a complex layer to the narrative, as Tacha was now defending someone who had previously trolled her. As of December 19, 2025, the date of the initial report, Lawrence and Omotara Alabi had not issued a detailed public response to Tacha's sharp remarks. The precise legal status of the arrested X user also remained unclear at that time.
